Consider the little boy who brought Jesus the five barley loaves and the two small fishes. (John 6:1-14)
What of the boy? What was his story? The lad gave his lunch to Jesus, thinking what, exactly? He could never have guessed what would happen to his lunch that day! Perhaps his mother prepared his food that morning, taken from the family food supply. And later that day, the boy finds himself listening to a man names Jesus, while sitting with everyone on the beautiful hills overlooking Galilee. How very picturesque! And again, the boy gives Jesus his little food basket? What was he thinking?
After seeing what happened to his lunch, perhaps he ran home, his eyes big with the wonder of it all as he poured out the amazing story about the miraculous increase of the loaves and fishes in the Masters hand. Perhaps he told his mother how the vast crowd ate their fill, and of the twelve baskets of fragments gathered afterwards. And what would a mother think in that scenario? That her son was delusional, perhaps, needing a little more attention that day? Or was her heart touched?
Perhaps the boy wondered what would happen to everything else he gave to Jesus? Would the same amazing multiplication happen? Would everything he could possibly give be increased in the hands of Jesus in the same way?
If we unreservedly give our best, our all to the Savior, His hand of blessing will multiply our resources. Little is much when God is in it. Nothing is too small to Him. Hungry hearts of others can be blessed, and someday we will be astounded and amazed at the twelve baskets of harvest that will be gathered as a result of our little lunch offerings. God has not called many great or noble to His service. He knows who is fit for His service, those who have simply given their all over into the hands of God. Is there something in our life that we've discounted as too small to matter? Give it, give it up, and see what the powerful hands of Jesus will do with it! (Luke 6:38) Surrender to Him, do the Word, and in eternity be as surprised at what God has accomplished through you, as this little boy was on that day when he saw the miracle of his five barley loaves and two small fishes. (Matthew 14:13-21)

As Oral Roberts use to say so often, "If you have a need, plant a seed". It's better if its of like-kind. If your need is financial, then plant an above-and-beyond seed of money. If its lonliness, then show yourself friendly to the helpless, lonely or forgotten. What about physical sickness or pain? Then learn to speak a word (seed) of strong faith over that member, joint or organ. Remember, it just takes the faith of a "small" mustard seed to begin the movement of mountains in our life.
