Me Time

What is the source of the notion of the 'Me-time' we are told is a very necessary and important part of ensuring our success? Not to be confused with one-on -one time focused on God, nor to be mistaken with the concept of rest either. The bible talks clearly of going to God to find our place of rest (Hebrews 4:9-11), that we will sleep peacefully when we rest in Him alone (Psalm 4:9), and that Jesus gives us rest (Matthew 11:28-30). So, what's Gods position on 'Me-time'?

In John 11:25 Jesus explains; "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, even though he may die, he shall live". Jesus also said that 'if anyone would come after mee, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself.' (Luke 9:23-25) How often did Jesus stop daily activities for a 'Me-day'?

John the Baptist stated in speaking of Jesus that "He must increase, but I must decrease'. (John 3:30) The apostle Peter said of the proper way to focus our time and efforts, "..to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God". (1 Peter 4:2) The instructions of the apostle John were "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him".(1 John 2:15)

Paul the Apostle said that "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20) He said that "To live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21), and "For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ" (Colossians 3:3). We get the distinct impression that Paul is fanatical about optimizing God focused time; his free moments were dedicated to Jesus,, speaking in tongues, time with the Holy Spirit, and in fellowship with his Heavenly Father. Where is Paul's guidance on Me-time'? Where does the bible encourage 'Me-My-I-Mine-time?'

The apostle of Faith, Smith Wigglesworth, said that 'the more of you that is left, the less of the power of God can grow into an active force within you', and he was a fanatical man with great results. Paul and the apostles were nothing short of fanatical, with heavenly results following. Stephen was the first of many fanatical martyrs. (Acts 6:8,10). Billy Graham and other revered 'Greats' had fanatical faith, with miracles and signs following. How fanatical are you going to be? It's yours for the taking...

Right on scripture references. Really like the description of how Paul likley 'invested' his free time & found rest & spiritual refreshment.
